Kristie
Gering
MD

Dr. Kristie Gering grew up in southeast South Dakota, which is where she attended college and medical school. In 1994, on the two week break between 2nd and 3rd year of medical school, she and Mark Gering were married. When Dr. Kristie graduated from medical school in 1996, they decided to check out a different part of the country for residency. Dr. Kristie attended the UW Madison Family Medicine Residency in Eau Claire WI. She and Mark fell in love with the Chippewa Valley and decided to stay. Her first job after graduating from residency in 1999 was with Family Health Associates in Chippewa Falls WI. She worked with that same group until venturing out to build her own clinic in January 2017. She finally took the time to take the test and officially became an Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner in October of 2020!
Kristie and Mark were fortunate in finding a beautiful piece of property in the apple orchard country between Eau Claire and Chippewa. Shortly after building their home, they were blessed with an amazing daughter named Rachel Grace. Rachel began college in the fall of 2021, and she is truly a beautiful young woman, inside and out!
On their small hobby farm they have two labs, Sandy & Cody, and quite a number of free-range, organically fed chickens. In their spare time, they also garden & grow black currants. Dr. Kristie has not had a lot of spare time to play in recent years, but when she does, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, Bible study, hiking their woods, taking pictures, cross country skiing, travel and researching functional medicine.

Robyn
Endrud
MD

Creating a relationship with my patients while seeing them through life’s challenges on a path to wellness, brings joy and satisfaction to my life. My goal for every patient is for them to feel heard, seen, known and cared for while they are on a journey of transformation towards wellness. It is an honor to walk this journey with them. -Dr Robyn
Dr. Robyn Endrud is a board certified Family Medicine physician, who joined the Spero team as of January 2022. Her medical school and residency training was completed at the University of Minnesota. Along with her husband and three children, they moved to Wisconsin in 2014. She practiced for seven years in Menomonie, WI, at Mayo Clinic Health System doing full spectrum Family Medicine. In the summer of 2021, she felt called to learn about Functional Medicine and began her courses in the Fall of 2021. It quickly became clear that the Functional Medicine lens to medical care allowed her to search for and address the root cause of disease for patients, while treating the whole patient, body-soul-spirit. Although she loved her patients and practice in Menomonie, she knew she was called to leave the world of health-system-based care behind to find more time with patients and truly focus on helping people find wellness and cure disease whenever possible. She has fast tracked her path and became an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner in 2023. She is now working part-time at Spero while homeschooling her three children.

Laura
Smith
DO

Dr. Laura Smith is a board certified pediatrician who joined the Spero team in
September 2024. She received her osteopathic medical school training at Kansas City University and residency training at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Dr. Smith moved to the Rice Lake area after residency and has been practicing general pediatrics in northwestern Wisconsin ever since. Soon into her career, Dr. Smith noticed children were getting sicker at an alarming rate with emerging chronic diseases and neurodevelopmental issues. This was in contrast to other developing countries where she had volunteered or trained with various healthcare missions. Always curious and with a love for learning, Dr. Smith dove into finding other tools to add to her toolbox to help care for patients in a more holistic way.
As an osteopathic physician, she was trained with the philosophy that the body has an innate ability to heal itself if we support it. Dr. Smith was determined to find answers and help her patients find the individualized support they need to help them thrive. This led Dr. Smith to the Institute for Functional Medicine where she began her studies in 2020 and became a certified practitioner in 2022. As an integrative pediatrician, her goal is to help her patients THRIVE, not just survive. Dr. Smith is on a mission to change the health trajectory of our nation’s children, one family at a time. She would love to partner with you and your child on their health journey to live their best life!
Dr. Smith is a mom and knows the challenges of raising a family of six through the different ages and stages of life. She and her husband have four children spanning the ages of grade school to adult life. She’ll share humor and grace along the way as she meets you where you are. When not working, Dr. Smith and her family love outdoor adventures, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
